what's so obscene about it? when that is what people back in his time wears. Isn't Lapu- lapu a much more of a hero than Dr. Jose Rizal?
Lapu-lapu is pure Filipino and where this statue is - the Capital of the Philippines - Manila, is the perfect spot (his monument in CEBU is the remembrance of how he battled the Spaniards from conquering his Philippines).
We Filipinos should not forget what LAPU LAPU fought for and stand for in our history. Does this mean that Koreans who gave this statue as a gift, gave more importance to Lapu- Lapu and our history, than the Filipino people who viewed this as obscene and out of place? tsk tsk tsk..
To my fellow Pinoys, be thankful and be proud. Know your history.

Hey, great shot. I have a shot that looks almost identical from Hawaii... At the time I was shooting on a Nikon D70s but I have since made some heavy upgrades to my equipment... See the shot on my website - St Louis Wedding Photography.

I think Lapu-lapu is a Muslim chief in Mactan given that kampilan is one of his weapons. Kampilan are primarily used by Filipino Muslims...
